Athletistic / Boxing. The world boxing champion in the heavyweight category according to WBO, WBA and IBF, the Ukrainian Alexander Usik, spoke about what could have caused a new postponement of his fight with the British Tyson Fury. Their fight for the title of absolute world champion was to take place on February 17 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
“I can’t judge Fury. He has a cut, something like that happens in training camp. Maybe it’s just that some people are arrogant with their protection. I mean the helmets, the gloves, the procedures we should always do before training – that is, applying petroleum jelly to the eyebrows or face to soften the skin.
Seems to me like someone is just being arrogant about all of this. And that causes a few small problems, that’s all. This is just my opinion,” Usik wrote on his social media page.
The new date for the fight between Alexander Usik and Tyson Fury is May 18. Initially, their fight was scheduled to take place on December 23, 2023, but after a tough victory over Ngannou, the British team announced that Tyson would not be ready to fight the Ukrainian in December.
