The ONE Championship League has announced that a Russian fight has been added to the card of the upcoming tournament numbered ONE Fight Night 19, which will take place on February 17. Mansoura Malachieva against Japanese veteran Yosuke Saruta.
The fight will take place under MMA rules in the weight category up to 56.7 kg (UN strawweight) at the Lumpini Arena in Bangkok. This will be Malachiev’s third fight under the ONE banner. During his first fight in June 2023 against Jeremy Miado, the Russian won by submission in the last minute of the first round. In the second fight, which took place as part of the ONE Fight Night 15 card against Joshua Pasio, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to Malachiev’s opponent.
Malachiev, 32, is a former Eagle FC bantamweight champion, Russian grappling champion and master of combat sports sambo. In ONE, he has one win and one loss, and his overall record includes 11 wins and one loss. Today, Malachiev is in fifth place in the straw division.
Saruta, 36, has fought six times in ONE and is a former strawweight division titleholder. He’s suffered defeat after defeat lately, and this fight could decide his fate in ONE.
In the main fight of the evening, drummer and ONE champion Jonathan Haggerty will defend his championship belt in the Muay Thai bantamweight division (65.8 kg) against Brazilian Felipe Lobo.
