Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexei Teksler said he hopes for the performance of a local taekwondo player Tatiana Minina at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Chelyabinsk region is one of the regions where the Winter Spartakiad of the Strongest takes place. Minina is a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics in the weight category up to 57 kg.
— I would like to thank Oleg Vasilyevich Matytsin for the opportunity to host the Spartakiad. Oleg Vasilyevich did not say it, but their relationship with Chelyabinsk has been linked for a long time. He defended his doctoral dissertation at our Ural University.
Today we discussed the development of sports and physical culture and toured the facilities. We discussed a number of promising projects that we will implement in the region. This year we will start building a 50-meter swimming pool in Magnitogorsk; we have a range of facilities available. Where there is a lack of infrastructure, our program will build facilities.
The Taekwondo Center was inaugurated on Friday, which is very important for our region. I hope taekwondo player Tatyana Minina will participate in the Olympic Games. Minina is one of the world’s best athletes in her event.
The region is very fond of sport. We have many sporting legends across the country and around the world. They are unique and unrivaled athletes in many ways. Our champions are represented in a variety of sports, which is a testament to their talent, enthusiasm and hard work. I am convinced that continued interaction with the Ministry of Sports will allow us to train new champions, ”reports a correspondent, reporting Teksler’s words.
The opening ceremony of the Spartakiad will take place on Friday in Chelyabinsk. Watch the live broadcast from 5:00 p.m. on the Match channel! TV. Country”, as well as the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
