A former world boxing champion believes the British boxer is about to retire.
The fight for the title of absolute world champion between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik will never happen. Former world champion Shawn Porter thinks so.
According to the American boxer, the holder of the WBC belt is not eager to meet the Ukrainian in the ring. The American even suggested that Fury is nearing retirement.
“There was nothing prophetic in what I said. I said that Usyk will not enter the ring with Tyson Fury. I just know this game. I know this sport. Of course, I did not think that the fight would be canceled because of a cut, but this is what we have, I told you there is no fight especially the day they sold him to us.
How did I know? Just looking at Tyson Fury, a bit older. He has done enough in the sport and can retire even tonight. He doesn’t want to fight a guy like Usyk, and if he does, he’ll only do it when he’s really ready,” Boxing Social quotes Porter.
We remind you that the Usyk-Fury fight, scheduled for February 17, has been postponed to May 18. The fight will take place in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
Previously, Tyson Fury said he would not retire.
