Chechen-born mixed martial arts fighter representing the United Arab Emirates Khamzat Chimaev said he would not want to fight at the UFC 300 tournament due to the fact that the Muslim holy month of Ramadan could interfere with preparations for the fight.
According to journalist Ariel Helwani, the UFC could offer Chimaev a title fight at UFC 300, which will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas.
“I’m ready to fight anyone – Léon (Edwards), (Dricus) du Plessis, anyone, but not during Ramadan. I think UFC 300 falls during Ramadan,” MMA Fighting quoted Chimaev as saying.
In 2024, Ramadan will begin on March 10 and end on April 9. The UFC tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 22.
— Maybe Saudi Arabia. “I want to fight there,” Chimaev added.
In MMA, Chimaev has 13 victories in 13 fights. Last October, he defeated American Kamaru Usman by decision at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
