Mamiashvili hopes Russian wrestlers will get all licenses for Paris Olympics

Russian wrestlers for the remaining two tournaments must obtain all Olympic licenses to be able to participate in the Paris Games, Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) President Mikhail Mamiashvili told .

Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Islam Aliyev won the silver medal at the European Championships on Wednesday. The European Wrestling Championship will end on February 18. Russian athletes participate in the tournament in neutral status.

— Islam Aliyev performed well in the tournament, but showed a chaotic fight in the final. This is all more than understandable: the lack of international experience in the required volume has had an impact. All this comes. We can already say that the team is very good. Everyone responded smoothly. Considering that in some weights the guys are preparing for the Olympic license tournament, we have a lot to work on. The number one goal is to maximize competition in all weight classes. There will be competition – there will be results.

We wish our guys success. They have a very young team. We are obliged to take all licenses for the Olympics, in all weights, including the classics. There are two tournaments left, we must complete our tasks there. The question is how the situation will evolve. All these attempts at distortion, these constant snitches… But… it’s okay. We will probably have to experience this too,” Mamiashvili told a correspondent.
