Olympic wrestling champion Sadulaev called Romanian customs refusal to enter the country strange

Double Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev described as strange the decision of the Romanian customs services to refuse him entry into the territory of the country in whose capital the European Championship is taking place.

Initially, Sadulaev did not receive a Romanian visa to participate in the tournament, after which he received a visa after re-applying through another country and traveled to Bucharest. On Thursday, Russian Wrestling Federation President Mikhail Mamiashvili told that Sadulayev was denied entry due to doubts over the athlete’s visa.

— Unfortunately, this European Championship will take place without my participation. I was full of energy, focused and ready, but right at the border I was refused entry to Romania – they didn’t like my visa. This turns out to be strange! In Spain, from where I flew to Bucharest, I had no questions… Everything is the will of the Almighty. Thanks for your support. We will learn lessons and move on. I wish all our guys good luck and, above all, no injuries! — wrote Sadulayev on the social network.

Freestyle competitions will begin on February 16. Sadulaev competes in the weight category up to 97 kilograms.
