The American believes that Tyson will not be able to resist Alexander in skill and speed
American boxer Steve Cunninghamwho previously knocked down Tyson Furygave an original forecast for the upcoming fight of the British WBC heavyweight champion against the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world heavyweight champion Alexandra Usika.
“If I had to put my money on it, I think Tyson Fury would be disqualified. This is my prediction: he will have to rely on Usyk. He will not be able to match his opponent’s skill.”
“After the fight with me, Fury improved his game. He’s not the one who fought Steve Cunningham. He’s definitely improved himself.”
“Usyk is better than me, he’s more experienced and he’s a southpaw, so I think Fury will have to use those tactics to win. He will have to use his weight and literally lean on his opponent when Usyk starts to score points and picks him apart in order to somehow slow him down. I predict Usik’s victory on points or Fury’s disqualification,” the American concluded.
Cunningham lost to Tyson Fury by knockout in the seventh round in 2013, while the “Gypsy King” was knocked down during the fight.
Let us remind you that the fight for the absolute title was supposed to take place in Riyadh on February 17. However, two weeks before the fight with Usik, Fury was injured during sparring. The Briton’s injury required stitches, due to which Tyson will not have time to recover for the fight with Usyk. According to British cutman Jorge Capetillo, the boxer will need at least three months to recover.
The unification fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion has received a new date – Fury and Usyk are scheduled to meet in the ring on May 18. The event, as before, will be hosted by the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million. At the same time, the contract for the fight between the Ukrainian and the British has a rematch clause.
