At the ONE Friday Fights 52 tournament in Bangkok, two Russian fighters debuted – Mamuka Usubyan and Ilyas Eziev – and both won.
Usubyan vs. Mavinn (Muay Thai)
In a Muay Thai fight in the ONE featherweight category (70.3 kg), undefeated debutant Mamuka Usubyan from the Yekaterinburg team “Archangel Michael” defeated Thai fighter Singha “Shadow” Mavinn.
RWS champion Singh Mavinn immediately picked up the pace and started working with kicks to the mid-body of Usubyan, but the Russian interrupted his attack with a sharp straight left punch, dispatching the Thai superstar on the Web.
The desire to recover left the Thais vulnerable in the second round, which Usubyan took advantage of: a left hand – and Mavinn fell again, and the referee began the count. In the last frame, Mavinn activated Berserk mode, started working with hand and foot combinations and managed to knock down his opponent. However, the breakthrough proved too late. Based on total points and knockdowns, Usubyan won by unanimous decision and improved his record to 20-2.
Eziev vs. Anarbayev (MMA)
The second Russian representative at the tournament was Ilyas Eziev from the Akhmat club. ONE debutant Eziev dominated his opponent from Kazakhstan, Aset Anarbaev, throughout the three rounds. The fight took place under MMA rules in the ONE bantamweight division (65.8 kg).
Eziev, in whose corner was two-time ONE champion Anatoly Malykhin, showed intense pressure and a varied technical arsenal. He dictated the pace and pattern of the fight throughout the fight, beating his opponent with clear and dangerous left hand work.
Midway through the third round, the 22-year-old prospect landed a powerful left jab, but his Kazakh opponent managed to hold on until the bell rang.
As a result, all three judges ruled in favor of Eziev, giving him the fifth victory of his career.
