Athletistic/MMA. Famous Russian promoter Kamil Gadzhiev spoke about former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. He also compared him to American heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“The concept of ‘best’ in sports is very subjective. Everything is relative here. I don’t think Jones is cooler than Khabib. It seems to me that there is less competition in the light heavyweight division. Yes, he had the coolest fights with Cormier, with Gustafsson. There are no questions for him here. But anyway, lightweight is lightweight. Plus, Jones has had many failures in his career that do not allow him to be considered the greatest. “The most talented fighter is probably, but certainly not the greatest. Because the greatest is not only about fighting,” Gadjiev said on his YouTube channel.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has 29 victories in 29 MMA fights, including 13 victories in the UFC. Khabib fought his last fight in October 2020, when he defeated Justin Gaethje at the UFC 254 tournament held in Dubai (UAE). Immediately after the fight, the Russian announced his professional retirement. And on January 7, 2023, it became known that at that time the Russian, still 34 years old, was completely leaving the MMA industry.
