The organization’s president, Maurice Suleiman, wants to see more reform and change in modern boxing.
During the fight for the title of absolute champion of the heavyweight division, more judges should work. This initiative was made by WBC President Maurice Suleiman.
The functionary has long proposed reforms in modern boxing, and one of the changes could be the number of referees officiating in the fight. Suleiman wants to employ more than three judges.
“That’s my recommendation. We’ll see how it goes. Boxing is a sport where change is very difficult. We’re purists, traditionalists, we don’t want change. I’ll keep suggesting. Some decision makers like of this idea . Let’s see how everything is.
“We proposed the use of 5-6 judges. However, this proposal was not considered. It did not happen. I will recommend it,” Sky Sports quoted Suleiman as saying.
We remind you that the fight between Usik and Fury will take place on May 18 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
We remind you that Usik’s former coach called for the fight for the title of absolute champion to be postponed until the summer.
