The Serb is confident in the victory of the Ukrainian boxer over the Gypsy King
Serbian boxer Sanel Hasanovic told the details of the preparation of the Ukrainian, world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexandra Usika for the fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion against the WBC title holder Tyson Fury. Khasanovich was Usik’s sparring partner and stated that he was ready to rejoin the Ukrainian’s team.
“I really enjoyed the experience of staying in Oleksandr Usik’s camp. In addition to the opportunity to train with a world champion, I gained a huge boost of confidence and greatly improved my boxing skills. Usyk is a real champion, I think he will beat Fury. He doesn’t attract as much attention as Tyson, at this time he works hard in the gym.”
“I sparred with Alexander 3 and 6 rounds per session, and in total I stayed in his camp for a month and a half. This is the second time I’ve helped Alexander in sparring, the first time I did it was in Turkey a year ago. Both then and now I was received very well. Usik has very good and very correct people in his team.
“If I don’t have a fight scheduled and my training already scheduled, I will, of course, be ready to come to the champion’s training camp again and help him prepare for May 18.”
Fury and Usyk were scheduled to fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion on February 17. Lennox Lewis was appointed special guest of the event, and the undercard included fights between former IBF world champion in the first heavyweight division Jay Opetai, 19-year-old Moses Itauma and IBF world super featherweight champion Joe Cordina.
Two weeks before the fight, Fury was injured during sparring. The Briton’s injury required stitches. Opinions among functionaries about Tyson’s injury were divided. British cutman Jorge Capetillo believes that the boxer will need at least three months to recover. His position is shared by the brother of former “interim” WBC champion Dillian Whyte, Dean White.
In turn, the Ukrainian team – Egis Klimas and Alexander Krasyuk – criticized Fury and his team. The head of the promotion company Top Rank, Bob Arum, spoke in defense of the Gypsy King.
The unification fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion has received a new date – Fury and Usik are scheduled to meet in the ring on May 18. The event, as before, will be hosted by the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people.
Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million. At the same time, the contract for the fight between the Ukrainian and the British has a rematch clause.
