MMA fighter Slumov on Beterbiev’s training: “Doing such a volume of work is a gift from God”

AMC Fight Nights Lightweight Champion Magomed Soulumov shared his thoughts on the world boxing champion’s approach to training according to WBC, WBO and IBF Artur Beterbiev .

On February 23, Sulumov will defend his AMC Fight Nights lightweight belt in a fight against Alexander Sarnavsky. Beterbiev is one of the Chechen Republic’s most famous athletes, holding the WBC, WBO and IBF light heavyweight belts and winning 20 out of 20 professional boxing bouts.

— Two major podcasts were released with the participation of probably the most famous representatives of Chechnya in martial arts: Artur Beterbiev and Buvaysar Saitiev. Was it possible that you had picked something out of one of them specifically and taken it for yourself?

— I didn’t even take it from Arthur’s podcast, but from his workouts, which he publishes and describes. I look at him, he’s just an unreal plowman, he’s already 39 years old. It’s amazing to do so much work. It’s just a gift from God. And I would like to be at least 20-30% as hardworking and maintain that stability. He recently got into a fight, literally less than a week had passed: my friend came to the gym at 7 in the morning, and Arthur was already there. And he says: he ran, jumped, did something else. In total, I did two hours of training! So he is an example for us.

— Have you tried repeating his famous push-ups, when he jumps from fist to finger, from fingers to the back of his hands?

“I didn’t do this because Arthur does it, we trained him in boxing.” But what he did, and what I tried to repeat, was run with weights. I ran about 15 km with two kg weights in my hands and feet. And I saw him running around with a 12-kilo vest,” Slumov told .
