Amkal media football club blogger and player Andrei Aleshin, before performing at the AMC Fight Nights tournament, in a conversation with , compared training to football and mixed martial arts.
On February 23 in Moscow, Aleshin, better known as Sibskana, will hold an exhibition match with another representative of media football, co-founder of the Broke Boys team Artem Kuzmin, nicknamed Raizen. The bloggers will meet during the co-main event of the Fight Nights tournament.
– Where did you feel the most tired – after football or MMA training?
— In football, obviously. I have been in football for many years, I have seen it all. Difficulties too. And there… there were of course times when it was necessary to work, but in general the coaches were very competent, they clearly found an approach, interested them in the process and distributed the load. There was nothing like that I was directly overloaded and could not sit on the toilet, as happened in football, when my legs were so clogged that I could not climb the stairs.
— Was it in football?
— The most difficult thing, if I remember correctly, was the training camp on Lake Baikal. Big load – everything with its own weight, jerks, accelerations. You are really tired, to the point where you [хочется] go to your room, lie down and sleep. You have difficulty climbing the stairs, the back ones are clogged, you can’t sit on the toilet, but when you see that hockey players are training nearby and what volumes they make, you think: “I probably haven’t reached the limit of my abilities yet.
In MMA, I received more introductory training. I trained all these positions, these blocks, how to kick in the face. Base, base!
— Did you do full-contact sparring during this period?
— The coach beat me, yes. If it matters, then yes. The coach hits, I dodge. In general, there is too much difference. If we take football, then a professional, an elite athlete will not disfigure a beginner in this way, precisely because of pain. And in martial arts, of course, you can get seriously injured. And it is difficult to imagine full contact with a person who knows how to do something. Even in a helmet, in protection. I got hit in the face a little, but I’m satisfied and happy.
—Was there at least one reversal?
– No, just some dizziness. The blow held. Everything is generally normal. Fresh, high, relaxed. The main thing is that the coaches understood that a different approach was needed here, and I think it worked out well.
— Former MMA football players are praised for their legs, both for their low kicks and for their movements. Do you feel like anything came of it?
– Well, if the words “[что же] “You bother, you run here and there,” can be taken as praise, so probably yes. There is mobility, but how else to apply it. This is how you can sew a dog’s legs, yes, but you still have to use it wisely.
— Have you tried hitting low kicks during this time?
– Yes, it turns out that seems like the simplest thing to do. Kicks, although completely different, have a much higher impact force.
—Where did they hit your legs the most?
– No, well, they didn’t hit me with low blows. Just me. Therefore, there is nothing comparable yet,” Sibskana told .
