Dmitry Dvali: “I am interested in trying my hand at professional boxing”

Bronze medalist of the 2023 World Championship, 2021 world champion among the military Dmitri Dvali said he is looking forward to his professional ring debut.

On March 3 in Sochi, 23-year-old Russian Dvali will face multiple world championship medalist and 2017 Asian champion Zhasurbek Latipov of Uzbekistan in six rounds in the IBA Night of Champions tournament.

“Participating in the IBA Night of Champions tournament is the opportunity to fight professionally without any risk, because in this format, amateurs compete mainly against amateurs. It’s not that I’m an amateur, and they’re giving me an opponent with good professional boxing experience. Performing in Sochi is therefore a good opportunity to show off your professional boxing skills.

As usual, we studied the upcoming opponent well and observed their fights. We tried to see all its characteristics. But in battle everything can be different, so we ourselves must be well prepared. I think I’m ready for my professional debut and six rounds. I’m not nervous about such a long distance yet. I am interested in trying my hand at professional boxing. Here everything will be completely different: preparation, fighting style, style, etc. And that only piques my interest. Yes, during training we stand for 10-12 rounds, but it’s a workout.

In the future, I plan to box professionally. But for now the priority is Olympic boxing. I want to win gold at the European Championship, I want to go to the World Championship and win gold there too. Now we will have a professional fight on March 3, and at least until May I will focus on Olympic boxing. After the fight in Sochi, two training camps are planned before the European Championships – in Kislovodsk and Sochi. And after the European Championship we will watch it. If possible, I will play as a professional. But I want to participate in the Friendship Games and the World Championships. And not just to perform, but to win gold,” said Dvali, whose remarks to were provided by the press service of the Russian Boxing Federation.

The IBA Night of Champions tournament will be broadcast live on the channel.
