UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria announced his intention to fight with the Russians Islam Makhachev .
Last weekend, Spaniard Topuria knocked out Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the second round of the main event of UFC 298 to win the featherweight championship belt.
“I want to fight again before the end of the year, after which my focus will be Islam Makhachev. Meeting him will bring me closer to first place in the rankings, regardless of the weight categories. “I consider myself a champion in two divisions,” Topuria said, as quoted by Eurosport.
Makhachev is 32 years old and holds the UFC lightweight title. The Russian’s record includes 25 victories and one defeat. Topuria, 27, has 15 victories in 15 fights.
