Russian boxer Magomed Kurbanov will fight for the WBA world junior middleweight title on March 8 in Saudi Arabia, reports the press service of RCC Boxing Promotions.
The opponent of the Russian in the fight for the title will be the representative of Uzbekistan Israil Madrimov (9-0-1, 6 KO). Their fight will be part of the main card of a major boxing show in Saudi Arabia.
Previously, the title in the first middleweight category (up to 69.9 kg) belonged to the American Jermell Charlo, then the belt became vacant.
Kurbanov, 28, last entered the ring in May 2023, when he defeated Frenchman Michel Soro by split decision. He has 25 victories (13 by KO) and no defeats.
Madrimov, 29, fought his last fight in April 2023, defeating Rafael Igbokwe (USA) by unanimous decision.
The March 8 main event in Saudi Arabia will feature Anthony Joshua (27-3) and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou (0-1).
