Helenius wants to be the next opponent for Usyk-Joshua winner

38-year-old Finn takes second place in the WBA rankings

Finnish boxer Robert Helenius thinks he should be mandatory challenger for the title of world champion WBA. The 38-year-old Finn intends to meet the winner of the rematch between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Briton Anthony Joshua.

“I should rightfully be the mandatory challenger for the WBA. Therefore, I am interested in the winner of the Usyk-Joshua fight, ”said the boxer.

“I should definitely be their next opponent. Any other fight without me is nonsense, ”said the Finn.

“If I am not approved as the mandatory challenger for Usyk’s next fight, my team will have only one way out. My lawyers are sure that the WBA only spoils the situation, ”added Helenius.

Robert Helenius defeated Adam Kownacki in his last two fights. In the first of them, the Finn won the WBA “golden” belt, and now ranks second in the association’s ranking.

The second fight between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia. The fight will be broadcast live on the DAZN streaming platform.

Last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision to become world heavyweight champion for the first time.
