Russian UFC fighter Denis Tyouline in an interview with , he suggested that the former Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov will win in a potential fight with the former UFC champion Francis Ngannou .
Tyulyulin, 35, was one of Nemkov’s training partners during training camps in the Elbrus region. Nemkov was preparing for his debut in the heavyweight division as part of the unified PFL and Bellator tournament in Saudi Arabia on February 24. In his heavyweight debut, the Russian choked out Brazilian Bruno Capelozza in the second round. Ngannou previously signed a contract with the PFL, which is now focusing on his boxing performances.
—Is what Vadim does in combat very different from what you saw in combat?
– Yes, it’s no different. Its main strength is movement. Of course we were concerned that he would be comfortable doing this at heavyweight, that his body wouldn’t get used to the new weight, but I didn’t think Capelozza would compete with him. Everything went well.
Yesterday we corresponded, he weighed 108 kg, it seems that at training camp he was a little heavier, maybe a few kilos. It was not a surprise that he could choke with this technique, we practiced it in training with Vitaly Bigdash (a League One fighter, statistics 12-3 – editor’s note “”), he always giving her practice. And Vadim defeated several guys in training camp with this technique.
“It was clear that Capelozza didn’t understand what to do with Nemkov’s two. Did you understand when you fought with him?
— I generally have a slightly different style. I understood that we should not give Vadim distance, because his asset is mobility. His opponent didn’t know what to do at all. I don’t know how it happened, he watched Vadik’s fights and knew he was going to make a move. He probably should have tried to corner Vadik, put the pressure on.
Vadim is a smart fighter. He’s not doing anything for nothing, he thinks, planning attacks. I don’t see that anyone can oppose him now.
— For Nemkov, this is the first victory with a triangle in the arm. Fedor has never strangled anyone with this technique. Did I understand correctly that at the training camp Vitaly Bigdash gave this technique for training?
– He always gives this restraint. This position is used often today and is clearly one of the five most popular moves in MMA. And at the training camp, Vadim surprised the guys by using these techniques. He didn’t catch me, but the other guys did.
— Can Nemkov defeat Ngannou?
– 100%. Vadik and Ngannou will have even more chances in MMA than in boxing. There is a fight, plus he hits long and can connect his legs.
— Would you advise Ngannou to accept this fight?
— I would recommend it, because I would like Vadyukha to earn even more money. I would consider Vadim the favorite. He is stronger, he is talented, he is powerful,” Tyululin told .
