Former WBA and IBF world boxing champion Denis Lebedev told he does not recommend Fedor Emelianenko go into battle with Mike Tyson according to the rules of boxing.
Earlier in an interview on the MMA Hour show, former Pride and WAMMA champion Emelianenko said he is interested in fighting former undisputed world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson. In early 2023, 47-year-old Emelianenko announced his retirement from MMA, but continued to train with Team Fedor fighters. Tyson is 57; in 2020, he resumed his career with the aim of organizing show fights. The exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. was a draw.
– Fedor is my friend, we are friends. Of course, if something happens, I will support it. But, in my opinion, Fedor can only win against Tyson by chance. I would not recommend Fedor to do this. But from a sports promotion standpoint, this is the better fight than all the others. Tyson is a world figure, Fedor too. If such people fight, as much as you want, you are always welcome. I don’t know if such a fight will take place, whether they will raise the winner’s hand or not, but we support Emelianenko.
— How can you assess Tyson’s form?
– May God grant everyone to be alive in such years. He’s also a different person. At his age, he reacts differently to situations. Mike has changed dramatically. His attitude towards many things changed, he became direct. If Roy Jones, for example, is delicate, doesn’t escalate, says it as it should, and Mike says what he wants, Lebedev told .
