UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria said he would like to fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov and also expressed confidence that he would have conquered the Russian.
Topuria, representing Spain, knocked out Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the second round on February 17 in the main bout of the UFC 298 tournament and won the featherweight championship belt.
“I would be happy to step into the octagon against Khabib. He has 29 wins and no losses, that’s an interesting statistic for me. He is a worthy and honorable champion. Would I have defeated him? 100%,” Sportskeeda quoted Topuria as saying.
Nurmagomedov announced his retirement in October 2020 after defeating American Justin Gaethje. The 35-year-old fighter held the UFC lightweight belt. Topuria, 27, has 15 victories in 15 fights.
