Ben Davison spoke about his ward’s future opponent against the Cameroonian fighter.
Francis Ngannou surprised everyone with his fight with Tyson Fury. This is what the trainer of former heavyweight Anthony Joshua, Ben Davison, said.
The Briton’s mentor recalled the Cameroonian fighter’s fight and noted how calmly he conducted it, despite his boxing debut.
“We’ve got to treat the guy with respect. Let’s not forget him. He lost a split decision to Tyson Fury. That puts him up there with guys who have been able to fight Fury.
The man showed calmness and patience in this battle. All of these are a threat when you know how to beat them. It’s easier to deal with a puncher when he’s reckless. Ngannou is new to the sport, so we don’t expect to see these qualities. We expected a lack of stability and patience on his part, but he showed what he was capable of. So we look at him as a world-class heavyweight,” Davison said as quoted by Sky Sports.
We remind you that the Joshua-Ngannou fight will take place on March 8 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
Previously, Joshua’s promoter expressed excitement about the Briton’s fight with Ngannou.
