The Czech Boxing Federation has become a temporary member of the International Boxing Association (IBA), reports official site IBA.
It should be noted that the Czech Federation has the opportunity to become a full member of the IBA at the association’s congress, which will take place at the end of 2024.
“This provisional membership is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Czech boxing community, including athletes, coaches, officials and fans. This move opens up exciting opportunities for Czech boxers to compete internationally and benefit from the IBA’s global initiatives, thereby contributing to the development and success of boxing in the Czech Republic.
This membership not only strengthens the global boxing community, but also ensures that the spirit of the sport continues to grow and flourish beyond borders.
The IBA warmly welcomes the Czech Boxing Federation and its members, looking forward to a successful partnership and a bright future for Czech boxing on the world stage,” the IBA said in a statement.
In May 2023, the IBA suspended the membership of the Czech Boxing Federation after organizing an international Grand Prix tournament to which boxers affiliated with the American Boxing Federation were admitted. Since USA Boxing revoked its IBA membership effective April 26, 2023, it has prevented its athletes, coaches and officials from participating in any IBA and affiliate member events.
