Jose Benavidez Sr. wants for his son to beat the former world champion and gain respect.

A victory over Alexander Gvozdyk will give David Benavidez more respect in the boxing world. This is what Jose Benavidez Sr., the boxer’s father and trainer, said.

He also admits the risk of fighting the Ukrainian, but considers it worth it because he wants his son to fight the best.

“When we beat Gvozdyk, we will gain everyone’s respect and take it to another level. We are not afraid of losing our undefeated record and we want to fight only the best,” Boxing News 24/7 quotes Benavidez Sr.

We remind you that the fight between Gvozdyk and Benavidez could take place in June or July, with the title of interim WBC light heavyweight champion at stake.

Previously, famous coach Teddy Atlas expressed confidence that Gvozdyk could defeat Benavidez.
