Russian judoka Kazbek Zankichiev died at the age of 31, reports the press service of the Russian Judo Federation.
The cause and location of Zankishiev’s death have not been specified.
“He was a talented athlete and a dignified person. It is a real loss for national judo. The Russian Judo Federation expresses its sincere condolences to Kazbek’s family and friends, the message said.
Zankishiev is a bronze medalist of the European Championship in the weight category up to 100 kg, a bronze medalist of the World Championship in mixed team competitions, champion of Russia and winner of the Grand Prix stages.
