Valuev called Kasatkina’s calls for a citizenship change ‘senseless brazenness’

Former boxing world champion Nikolai Valuev is sure that the Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina The statement on the need to change the sporting citizenship of young national tennis players “went too far”.

Kasatkina has previously called on young Russian tennis players to switch sport citizenship to perform at international level.

– Kasatkina’s call for a change of citizenship is senseless impudence. She clearly overreacted. An athlete of her level should not make such statements, let alone advise such children.

You cannot pressure other people to change their citizenship – everyone decides for themselves, advice is inappropriate here. In my opinion, Kasatkina is completely wrong here, Valuev told RB Sport.

Earlier, Kasatkina also admitted to having a non-traditional sexual orientation.

The 25-year-old tennis player is the winner of five WTA tournaments (including four singles), owner of the Billie Jean King Cup (2021) in the Russian team.
