Russian mixed martial arts fighter Umar Nurmagomedov said he was capable of defeating the former UFC bantamweight champion earlier Petra Jana and also talked about a potential fight with American Corey Sandhagen.
On Saturday, Nurmagomedov defeated Kazakh Bekzat Almahan at UFC Fight Night 238 in Las Vegas. The bantamweight fight lasted all three rounds and ended with the Russian’s victory by unanimous decision.
– When I say I can crush and finish Petr Yan, I mean it. I can do it. When I say I can finish Corey Sandhagen, I know I can do it. “Not because I’m arrogant, I just know my team,” Nurmagomedov said at a press conference.
Nurmagomedov also discussed a possible fight with American Corey Sandhagen, whom he previously challenged.
“They said they had a date for our fight with Corey Sandhagen. Before the fight with Almahan, they had talked about it. Corey also talked about it and I think it will happen,” Nurmagomedov said.
Umar Nurmagomedov, 28, has 17 victories in 17 fights in professional mixed martial arts.
The UFC bantamweight champion is Sean O’Malley, the ranking is now headed by Merab Dvalishvili, Sandhagen is third, Yang is fourth, Nurmagomedov is 13th.
