British boxer Dillian Whyte allowed to continue his career after an investigation confirmed a positive doping test result was due to a “contaminated supplement”.
A rematch between British heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte was scheduled to take place in August 2023. However, a week before the scheduled date, the fight fell through: it turned out that White’s doping test came back positive. As a result, Joshua entered the ring against Robert Helenius and knocked him out in the seventh round.
The expert who led the investigation concluded that “White was the victim of a contaminated dietary supplement that was not labeled as containing a banned substance, so he did not take it intentionally.”
“It was really hard because I knew I was innocent.” But you have to be professional, trust the lawyers and trust the people around you. It was tough, but tough times make strong people.
First of all, I’m more relieved, but of course I’m also angry because it cost me a lot. Most importantly, it cost me the chance to beat Joshua. Afterwards, everything else is secondary.
Clearing your name is the most important thing. And that’s what we’ve done. It’s expensive and stressful. “I lost a lot of money and we are demanding compensation,” White was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
The last time Dillian Whyte entered the ring was in November 2022, defeating American Jermaine Franklin by decision.
White, 35, is a former WBC interim world champion and mandatory challenger to the WBC world champion, WBC Silver and WBO international heavyweight champion.
