Second and friend of the Russian Petr Yana Denis Lavrentiev told that the American Sean O’Malley won’t be able to create worthy competition for the former UFC bantamweight champion.
O’Malley announced his fight with Yan on Wednesday at UFC 280, which will be held Oct. 22 in Abu Dhabi.
“This long antelope will run out of steam after the very first round, and then Petya will just eat it,” said Lavrentyev, confident in the victory of the Russian, whose words were provided by the Archangel Michael team specially for MatchTV.
Jan, 29, who sits at the top row of the UFC bantamweight rankings, has 16 wins with three losses. In the last fight in April, the Russian lost to the organization’s champion, American Aljamain Sterling, by split decision.
O’Malley, ranked 13th in the UFC rankings, has 15 wins and one loss. The 27-year-old fighter’s last fight was in early July with Pedro Munoz, but that fight was ruled invalid due to a punch to the eye from Munoz.
