A memorial plaque in honor of Putin’s judo coach will be installed in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov signed a decree to install a memorial plaque in honor of judo coach Anatoly Rakhlin in the city, the press service of the governor’s administration reported.

The memorial plaque will be installed on the facade of the Turbostroitel judo club building on Kondratievsky Prospekt.

“Governor Alexander Beglov signed the decree of the St. Petersburg government “on the installation of a memorial plaque in AS Rakhlin,” the message said.

The initiative to install the memorial plaque belongs to the St. Petersburg regional public organization “Judo Club Turbostroitel”.

— Anatoly Rakhlin is an outstanding coach whose memory is preserved in St. Petersburg. He made a huge contribution to the development of judo in our country and our city. Among its students are not only famous athletes, but also government and political figures. His most famous student is Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” Beglov emphasized.

In memory of the coach, international judo competitions between boys and girls are held in St. Petersburg – the Anatoly Rakhlin Cup.
