New Zealanders Joseph Parker defeated the Chinese Zhang Zhilei and won the interim championship belt according to the World Boxing Organization (WBO) in the heavyweight category.
The twelve-round fight took place in Riyadh and ended with Parker winning by unanimous decision. Judges’ scores: 113:113, 114:112, 115:111. During the fight, the New Zealand boxer was knocked down twice.
After the fight, Parker stated that he planned to face Zhang Zhilei again in his next fight, as those were the contract terms for the fight.
In the professional ring, the Chinese boxer won 26 times, suffered two defeats and ended one fight in a draw. Parker has 35 wins and three losses.
