Parker: I will fight Zhang again, we agreed on that in the contract

The New Zealander defeated the Chinese heavyweight by decision

Interim WBO world champion Joseph Parker said he is ready for a rematch with the Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei.

“This is a great victory. I feel like we’re on the upswing right now. Zhang is a strong man. He knocked me down twice, but when I got back to the corner, Andy Lee, my trainer, told me to keep my composure, box and stick to the plan.”

“Next I will fight Zhang again. We agreed on this in our contract.”

Parker was knocked down in the third and eighth rounds. The New Zealander had a stronger finish at the end of the fight, in which Zhang was tired.

At the end of all twelve rounds, the judges gave the victory to Parker: 113:113, 114:112, 115:111. Thus, the New Zealander won his 35th victory in the professional ring. Zhilei suffered a second defeat.

In the main event of the boxing evening in Riyadh, former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua knocked out former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in the second round.
