American fighter Dustin Poirier and UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev exchanged messages in which they agreed to fight in June.
“Islam in June,” Poirier wrote on a social network.
Makhachev responded with a handshake and crossed swords emoji.
On Saturday, Poirier knocked out Frenchman Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 in Miami. He has 30 victories and eight defeats. Makhachev has held the UFC championship title since fall 2022. In total, he has 25 victories in 26 fights during his career.
