American boxer Mohammed Ali will be posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, according to the organization’s official website.
The ceremony will take place on April 5 in Philadelphia. Lonnie Ali, Ali’s widow, will be in attendance.
In 1976, Ali participated in an exhibition match against Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki in Tokyo. In 1984, he was a guest referee at WrestleMania during the main event between Hulk Hogan/Mr. T and Roddy Piper/Paul Orndorff.
Ali – Olympic champion in 1960, absolute world heavyweight champion (1964-1966, 1974-1978). During his career, he fought 61 fights, in which he won 56 victories (37 by knockout).
Ali died aged 75 in June 2016.
