A spectacle for boxing fans
WBC ready to organize a fight between the ex-world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua with Alexander Usik or Tyson Fury after two head-to-head confrontations between the Ukrainian and the “Gypsy King”.
“The WBC has been presented with a request for sanctions regarding the undisputed title fight. We accepted these sanctions and agreed to the rematch that they requested, but we also have nothing against Anthony Joshua meeting the winner as long as it does not violate the terms of the contract or anything else,” said World Boxing Union President Mauricio Suleiman.
“The WBC is taking this issue very seriously. Thus, we have completely cleared the way for an undisputed fight, for a rematch and another fight at the highest level. The WBC position is now extremely open for a fight for the absolute championship. We support the fights that fans want to see.”
Let us remind you that the unification fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between Fury and Usyk will take place on May 18. The event will be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people. Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million.
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that an agreement had been concluded between the boxers for a re-fight. The WBO is also ready to sanction the rematch.
On the night of March 9, Joshua won by knockout over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. It has been reported that AJ is in contention for a possible vacant IBF title against Filip Hrgovic.
