Berinchyk’s fight with Navarrete will take place on May 18 in San Diego.

On the same day, Usik will fight Tyson Fury in Riyadh

The date of the fight between the WBO International lightweight champion has become known Denis Berinchik (18-0, 9 KOs) and Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete (38-2, 31 KO) for the vacant belt WBO lightweight champion. The fight will take place on May 18, 2024 in San Diego (USA).

Let us remind you that the World Boxing Organization sanctioned this fight at the end of January.

Navarrete, 29, finished in a draw with Brazilian Robson Conceicao in November 2023 and retained his WBO super featherweight title.

According to promoter Bob Arum, due to the fact that Emmanuel preferred a title fight against Berinchyk, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, who expected to fight the Mexican in his weight category, retired from his professional career.

In January, 35-year-old Berinchyk said that he was waiting for official confirmation from the promoters of his championship fight. He named three possible locations for the future fight: Great Britain, the USA and Saudi Arabia.

The Ukrainian fought his last fight in August against Swede Anthony Yigit. Berinchyk won by unanimous decision and defended the WBO International title, which he has held since 2018.

The Navarrete-Berinchik fight will take place on the same day as the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. This event, which was postponed several times due to the fault of the British boxer, will be hosted by Saudi Riyadh on May 18.

A week earlier, on May 12, another Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko will fight. His opponent in the fight for the vacant IBF lightweight belt will be Australian George Kambosos.
