Russian mixed martial arts fighter Pierre Yan reported that after the fight with the Georgians Merab Dvalishvili refused to renew his contract with the UFC for six fights.
Yan lost to Dvalishvili at the UFC tournament in March last year. The Russian previously held the bantamweight championship belt. Last week, Yang defeated Chinese fighter Song Yadong by decision at UFC 299.
“I think we have to fight some battles to get back into the title race. Now the situation in the division is quite unclear: there are a lot of contenders, a lot of guys who are worth it. So it takes a little time to understand the situation. I believe I can get into the title race again and prove myself.
I have two fights left on my contract. Immediately after the previous fight (with Dvalishvili), I was offered a contract for six more fights, but I did not sign it. Now we need to improve our positions, and then there will be a different conversation, it will be fair,” said Yan, whose words were provided to by the Archangel Michael team.
Yang has 17 wins and five losses during his MMA career.
