Mauricio Suleiman is confident that this will reduce the risk of scandal and avoid false assessments.
Mauricio Sulaiman will demand that the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight title be judged by six judges.
The President of the World Boxing Council said this after another scandal last week in Saudi Arabia.
WBC champion Ray Vargas then retained his belt by beating Nick Ball to a draw, despite Ball knocking his opponent out in the eighth and 11th rounds.
Vargas’ preference for boxing in the early rounds convinced judge Massimo Barrovecchio to win the Mexican 114-112, but judge John Baelim favored Ball 116-110. Judge Ray Danseco scored it 113-113.
“What we saw last week in Saudi Arabia is another example of how unstable refereeing remains around the world.
We saw how one judge gave victory to one, and another – to another. Such disagreements in the Fury-Usyk fight will destroy boxing.
Fights, especially at such a high level, deserve it, so I make this offer to all sanctioning organizations, promoters and fighters,” Suleiman mentioned to Boxing Scene.
We remind you that the fight between Usik and Fury is scheduled to take place on May 18 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
Earlier, the ex-world champion said Fury was past his best boxing year.
