Former UFC champion in two weight categories, American Daniel Cormier believes that Islam Makhachev not inferior Khabib Nurmagomedov in its optimal form.

I think Makhachev has many of the same qualities. “He’s a lot like Khabib in the way he works on the court, but since he’s a better striker, I think he’s even more dangerous than Khabib in his peak form,” Cormier was quoted as saying by Sport Skeeda.
Nurmagomedov announced his retirement in October 2020 after defeating American Justin Gaethje. In mixed martial arts, he fought in 29 fights and had 29 victories, holding the UFC lightweight title. Makhachev now owns the belt, with 25 of his 26 fights won.
