Arum: Everyone is working hard to make Haney-Kambosos rematch happen in mid-October

The fight for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion is scheduled to take place on October 15 in Australia.

Head of promotional company Top Rank Bob Arum spoke about the organization revenge between the undisputed world lightweight champion Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) and George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs).

Arum noted that the parties have not yet settled all the details of the upcoming battle. Earlier it was reported that the second fight between Haney and Kambosos will take place on October 15 in Melbourne.

“It is not true that everything has already been decided, but we are working on it. We’re working with the Australian government now because we don’t want to have a rematch in a big 50,000-seat stadium like the first fight. We are looking at the Rod Laver Stadium in Melbourne, which has a capacity of 20,000,” Arum said.

“Everyone is working hard for the fight to take place in mid-October. Like last time, they will fight on Sunday, but in the US it will be Saturday.”

Haney previously stated that his next fight might not be a rematch against Kambosos. Probably, the American’s team is trying to negotiate better terms for themselves.

Recall that in the duel for the title of absolute world champion Haney defeated Kambosos by unanimous decision of the judges – 116:112, 116:112 and 118:110. After that, George activated the option of a rematch with Haney.
