The IOC approved the change of citizenship of swimmer Anastasia Kirpichnikova and wrestler Alexander Komarov

The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the swimmers’ applications Anastasia Kirpichnikova and wrestler Alexander Komarov to change their sporting citizenship before the 2024 Games in Paris, IOC communications director Mark Adams said.

Previously, both athletes represented Russia. Kirpichnikova, 23, will participate in the Olympic Games under the flag of France. Komarov, 24, will participate in the Games as part of the Serbian national team.

Kirpichnikova has been training in France for over four years. She is a three-time European champion in short course, a silver medalist at the World Championships in short course and a three-time medalist at the European Championships.

Komarov has represented Serbia since 2024. He is a European champion (2024), as well as a two-time European bronze medalist (2019, 2020).

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
