Emmanuel and Denis will meet in the ring on May 18 in San Diego
Head of the promotion company Top Rank Bob Arum commented on the upcoming fight between the WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchik (18-0, 9 KOs) and Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete (38-2, 31 KO) for the vacant belt WBO lightweight champion.
“Boxing fans in San Diego are passionate and we are thrilled to bring Emmanuel back to the Pechanga Arena. He will have a lot of support in the fight with Berinchik, in which he claims the world title in the fourth weight category,” Arum said.
The fight between Berinchik and Navarrete will take place on May 18, 2024 in San Diego (USA). It will be hosted by the Pekanga Arena complex. The World Boxing Organization sanctioned this fight at the end of January.
29-year-old Navarrete finished in a draw with Brazilian Robson Conceicao in November 2023 and retained his WBO super featherweight title. If he defeats Berinchik, the Mexican will become world champion in four different weight categories.
The 35-year-old Ukrainian fought his last fight in August against Swede Anthony Yigit. Berinchyk won by unanimous decision and defended the WBO International title, which he has held since 2018.
