The battle Vladimir Kuzmin against Suablek has officially been added to the upcoming ONE Championship league tournament, ONE 21. The tournament will take place on April 7 at Lumpini Stadium in Bangkok.
The Muay Thai bantamweight fight (up to 65.8 kg) will be Kuzmin’s sixth fight under the auspices of ONE. Kuzmin has 24 professional fights, the Russian’s hand has been raised 21 times in the ring. He is currently on a two-fight winning streak, defeating Zafer Sayek and Fabio Rice.
After a winning debut in ONE against Chris Shaw in October 2022, Kuzmin has lost two fights in a row. However, both defeats were by decision, and the Russian’s opponents were current champion Jonathan Haggerty and Thai Muay Thai star and multiple world champion Muangthai. So far, during his entire performance in ONE, the representative of the team “Archangel Michael” failed to finish the fight ahead of schedule.
Kuzmin’s opponent is an experienced fighter Suablek, who has 59 victories in 77 fights. He is on a six-fight winning streak, having won his previous fight against Stefan Korody.
Kuzmin is convinced that his opponent must be wary of his heavy and precise punches:
— I can say about the opponent that he is doing well in the championship with a series of victories. Of course, I watched his fights. This is my weight class, and when someone fights in my weight class, I try to watch those fights. I didn’t notice any particular strengths in him. Let him pay attention to my strengths and prepare to deal with them. His weakness is that he misses a lot of shots. On my side, there are punches, movement and speed,” Vladimir Kuzmin said, as quoted by ONE.
There are two championship fights on the card. Regian Ayersil, who is on a 22-fight winning streak. He will defend his lightweight kickboxing world championship belt against Alexis Nicholas. Ty Ruotolo will make his first defense of the ONE Submission Grappling Welterweight World Championship (83.9kg).
