A student at the Rostov law faculty, Tsomartova disappeared in February in Kaspiysk, where she had come to attend a Thai boxing competition. At the tournament, she was beaten for the first time in 10 years; after the competition, the 22-year-old athlete left his phone at home and disappeared. CCTV cameras last spotted Tsomartova on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

The head of the Republic of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, said that aviation, rescuers and divers were involved in the search for Tsomartova.
