Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey surprises with reason for retirement

Dominant UFC champion for several years, Ronda Rousey reveals reason for early retirement from MMA and surprises

One of the greatest fighters in the history of the UFC, in addition to having also won the bronze medal in an Olympics, in Judo, Ronda Rousey disclosed the reason for his early retirement from MMA. In her new book “Our Fight”, the American revealed she has a long-standing history of brain concussions.

My history of brain concussions, which I had to keep secret for years in order to compete in MMA and WWE, was the reason for my retirement. I couldn’t talk about it in an interview or an article because people might not understand. I suffered a lot of concussions when I was doing judo, before I even got into MMA, I couldn’t talk about it when I was doing MMA because it would literally put a target on my head and I might not be allowed to compete anymore.”said.

After years of dominance in the organization, Ronda lost her belt to her fellow countrywoman, Holly Holm, but competed again just a year later, against Amanda Nunes. On that occasion, the Brazilian had a devastating knockout, in just 48 seconds, to take down the UFC legend, who ended up never being feared again.

I would like people to understand my reasons and the motivation behind the spotlight, which was responsible for me stopping fighting at a time when I was faster, stronger and with my skills at their peak, as well as the my understanding of martial arts. It was a tough decision to make and for the fans to understand, but my body decided for me”, concluded the former fighter on the occasion.
