The fight between the two former champions is planned to be held in Riyadh
Former WBC World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) and former WBO interim champion Zhang Zhilei (26-2-1, 21 KOs) are negotiating a fight on June 1. The parties are close to concluding a deal.
The Wilder-Zhilei fight is scheduled to take place on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight will take place on the undercard of the fight for the title of absolute light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev – Dmitry Bivol.
Also at the boxing evening in Riyadh, fights Filip Hrgovic – Daniel Dubois and Frank Sanchez – Agit Kabayel can take place.
38-year-old Wilder last fought in December 2023 in Riyadh at the “Day of Reckoning” show. The American lost to Joseph Parker by unanimous decision. Due to Deontay’s defeat, his fight with Anthony Joshua fell through.
40-year-old Zhilei lost to the same Parker in early March 2024. At the same time, Zhang knocked down the New Zealander twice.
