The lot went to an ardent fan of the legendary boxer – the president of the NFL club Indianapolis Colts.
Another item that once belonged to the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was sold at auction for a lot of money.
This time, the WBC championship belt went under the hammer, won by the athlete in 1974, in a duel called “Rumble in the Jungle”.
Recall that the fight took place in the city of Kinshasa and is often considered one of the greatest boxing fights of the 20th century. Ali’s opponent was George Foreman.
The lot went to the president of the NFL club Indianapolis Colts Jim Irsi. The functionary himself announced this on his social network page. The belt cost him $6.18 million.

Note that Irsi is an ardent fan of Mohammed Ali and collects the boxer’s sportswear. He also owns the gown Ali wore to fight Sonny Liston in 1965, the shoes from his fight with Joe Frazier in 1966, and the gloves the legendary fighter wore to fight Karl Mildenberger in 1966.
It will be remembered that Muhammad Ali defeated the previously undefeated George Foreman in Kinshasa by knockout in the eighth round and regained the heavyweight title. He held the WBC belt until his loss to Leon Spinks in 1978.
