Chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority Turks Al ash-Sheikh announced plans to hold September 2024 large-scale boxing event in London at the stadium Wembley.
“Right now Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren and I are planning to do something big in the third quarter in London to promote the season in Riyadh. We are discussing it and think that in a couple of weeks we will come to some point.”
It was previously reported that a fight between Deontay Wilder and Zhang Zhilei is planned for June 1 in Riyadh. The fight will take place on the undercard of the fight for the title of absolute light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev – Dmitry Bivol.
On the same day, a boxing tournament is planned in Saudi Arabia between the promotion companies Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing. Each company will field five boxers for the fights.
Riyadh has been the main venue for high-class fights for the past few months. Thus, a meeting between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou took place in Saudi Arabia; before that, the “Day of Reckoning” boxing evening was successfully held in Riyadh.
On May 18 in Riyadh it is planned to hold a fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF champion Alexander Usik (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC title holder Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs ).
