Berinchyk: Plans are to enter the ring in excellent shape and win the world champion belt

The Ukrainian will fight with the Mexican Navarrete on May 18

WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchik (18-0, 9 KOs) spoke about preparations for the fight with the Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete (38-2, 31 KO) for the vacant belt WBO lightweight champion.

“This is my first fight in the USA. For me, this is a challenge and great motivation to show myself in the best shape overseas. I had the opportunity to box in America while still participating in WSB as part of the Ukrainian Atamans. Unfortunately, it was not possible to implement this then. So this is a second chance for me and I’ll take it.”

“The opponent is very inconvenient. In addition, he is a world champion in three weight categories. A worthy opponent. We’ll see everything in the ring.”

“Two months of training camp are behind us. There was general physical training, there was work with weights, swimming in large pools and much more. Now we have moved on to sparring and continue to improve our overall physical fitness.”

“The plans for the fight are to enter the ring in a good mood and in excellent physical shape to receive the world champion belt.”

The fight between Berinchik and Navarrete will take place on May 18, 2024 in San Diego (USA). It will be hosted by the Pekanga Arena complex. The World Boxing Organization sanctioned this fight at the end of January.

29-year-old Navarrete finished in a draw with Brazilian Robson Conceicao in November 2023 and retained his WBO super featherweight title. If he defeats Berinchik, the Mexican will become world champion in four different weight categories.

The 35-year-old Ukrainian fought his last fight in August against Swede Anthony Yigit. Berinchyk won by unanimous decision and defended the WBO International title, which he has held since 2018.
