The Mexican replaced compatriot Carlos Cuadras, who injured his Achilles in training
Former world super bantamweight champion Pedro Guevara (41-4-1, 22 KO) will fight another former champion Andrew Moloney (26-3, 16 KO) for the interim WBC super bantamweight title. The fight will take place on the undercard of the fight between the former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko and Australian George Kambosos.
Guevara will replace another Mexican, Carlos Cuadras, in the fight with Moloney. Carlos was scheduled to defend his title as interim champion, but suffered a torn Achilles in training and was forced to withdraw from the fight.
Guevara, 34, defended the WBC super bantamweight title twice in 2015. In his last fight, the Mexican defeated Lamberto Macias in February. Pedro previously lost to Cuadras in November 2023.
The fight between Vasily and George for the vacant IBF lightweight belt will take place on May 12. The event will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, starting approximately at 5 a.m. Kyiv time.
Let us remember that in May 2023, Lomachenko lost to Devin Haney in a fight for the title of absolute world champion. In turn, Kambosos defeated Briton Maxi Hughes in his last fight, winning the IBO lightweight title.
